Gibraltar Challenge

“Gib”, known as the Alp d’Huez of Santa Barbara is recognized as the best road cycling climb in all of Southern California. The climb gains nearly 3000’ in just over 6 miles, has twice hosted mountain top finishes for the Tour of California and has been the site of the World Hill Climb Championships.

The only competitively timed segment for Ride Santa Barbara 100 is the Gibraltar Road Climb. This segment is on the routes of the 100 mile course and the 100K + Climb course. The 100k Coastal and 34 mile routes do not include Gibraltar Road.

The event will have electronic timing mats at the official start and finish of the Gibraltar climb, but you can also view the Strava segment here.

Award Categories*

Overall Awards will be presented for the 100 Mile and 100K + Climb routes. Age Group awards will be presented for the 100 Mile and 100K + Climb routes only!

*Award categories will remain the same regardless of which route is utilized.

Overall: 1st place male and female winners of the time trial will receive free entry to next year’s event, a King/Queen of the Mountain jersey, a medal and of course massive bragging rights!

Age Group: 1st place winners will receive a KOM/QOM jersey! Top 3 in each age group (both male and female) will receive a medal.

*to be eligible for KOM/QOM Jerseys and awards, all riders must complete the entire 100 mile or 100K + Climb route they signed up for.

*1^st place overall winners will be excluded from age group prizes. There will be no awards for 2^nd and 3^rd place OVERALL. These riders will be recognized on the podium for overall results and will still be eligible for age group KOM/QOM Jerseys.
